SPL’s patented Vitalizer technology applies psychoacoustic and audiometric principles to enhance and improve sound sources without creating additional audio artifacts.

This is achieved by utilising unique filtering techniques that highlight the richness of the audio signal in its entirety. Music and spoken word can be made more comprehensible, loudness in dense tracks even more intense, and a track’s soundscape widened.

Powerful Frequency Control

The Stereo Vitalizer’s frequency spectrum is divided into the traditional high, mid and low frequency bands with interwoven low and mid filter settings. Each of the bands can be separately controlled to boost intensity in any areas where necessary.

One of Vitalizer’s special talents is the ability to unmask overlapping sounds by enhancing seemingly unnecessary information rather than discarding it, in a process akin to reverse bit-rate compression.

This is made possible by the Vitalizer’s capacity to perceive frequencies relative to shifting nearby frequencies at louder levels. Overlapping sounds can then be made more prominent or “unmasked” making more information audible and giving more depth to any mix. Lows can be given better definition, mids more focus, and highs more brilliance or shine.

SPL’s Vitalizer technology also possesses the ability to achieve human hearing style non-linear sensitivity by adapting a source’s sound spectrum.

Loudness contours or ‘Fletcher-Munson Curves’ prove that the human ear is most sensitive to mid frequencies such as speech, and as such frequencies below 200Hz need extra help to achieve balanced audibility.

Vitalizer’s accommodation of this theory improves loudness intelligently in specific areas allowing individual elements to sound more prominent without increasing their overall level.

This feature can also be applied to master bus channels to achieve an equal loudness value whilst still avoiding a rise in sound pressure levels.
