Slate Digital’s Gates Bundle is split into two main tools, a Classic gate designed for all-purpose noise reduction on vocals, guitars and other instruments; and a transient-based Drums gate for dialling in the perfect clean drum sound. Both modules work within Slate’s Virtual Mix Rack (VMR) ecosystem for a streamlined workflow that leads the way in efficient mixing and production.

The Classic gate module includes all the traditional trimmings that modern mix engineers could desire, including threshold, ratio and attack controls, along with adjustable release, range and slope. Classic gate also includes a specific vocal-mode for getting the most from voices.

Meanwhile in the Drums gate module, transient control is the order of the day. Transient detection, gating and de-bleeding sections are on offer to wield full control over any drum sound. By altering the detection threshold, users can zero in on a specific amplitude range for surgical adjustments; while the release control varies the speed of activation as soon as transient has been detected.

Classic Mode
Classic gate can be used in one of two ways, standard mode uses high and low pass filters plus amplitude-based detection and side-chain filters to offer a huge number of creative possibilities.

Vocal Mode
When set to vocal-mode, the Classic gate employs internal filtering to preserve vocal breathing sounds. A unique timing circuit emulation also ensure smooth gate open/shut toggling.
