Description
The 2015 reissue of the Moog Model 15 Synthesizer is a meticulous recreation of the original 1973 modular system, crafted to offer the same legendary analog sound and experience. This particular Model 15 includes the Moog 953 61 note keyboard controller. The 953 is a duophonic controller based on the keyboards used with Moog modular systems from the 60s and 70s and offers control over various parameters on the Model 15.
This Model 15 and keyboard are in near mint condition with barely any signs of use. The unit comes in the original box with all the cables, handbook and certificate of authenticity. More photos are available, just drop us a line. This is a rare opportunity to own an classic Moog, only 150 of these were re-released in 2015. This is serial number 088.
Moog Model 15 (2015 Reissue) Technical Specifications
Modules and Signal Path:
The Model 15 reissue comprises 11 discrete analog modules, all handcrafted using the same techniques and components as the original 1973 design.
Key modules include:
921 Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO): Offer stable tuning and generate various waveforms, including sine, triangle, sawtooth, and square/pulse.
921 Voltage Controlled Oscillator Driver: Controls and synchronizes the 921 VCOs for complex modulation possibilities.
921B Oscillator (2 units): Specialized VCOs capable of producing sub-audio frequencies, perfect for modulation.
904A Voltage Controlled Low-Pass Filter: Known for its classic Moog sound, this 24dB/octave filter delivers rich, warm low-pass filtering with resonance control.
902 Voltage Controlled Amplifier (2 units): Essential for shaping the amplitude of signals, with a smooth response that complements the Model 15’s other modules.
911 Envelope Generators (2 units): Provide ADSR (Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release) modulation for crafting dynamic sound shaping.
923 Random Noise/Filter: Offers both white and pink noise, alongside a band-pass filter with selectable frequency bands.
CP3 Mixer: Classic Moog mixer known for adding harmonic distortion when overdriven, contributing to the Model 15’s warm, vintage sound.
Attenuators, Multiples, and Power Supply: For flexible signal routing and reliable performance.
Authenticity and Build Quality:
Each Model 15 reissue is handcrafted in Asheville, North Carolina, using traditional techniques that ensure each unit is faithful to the original. Built with point-to-point wiring, precision components, and hand-soldered connections, just like the original 1973 Model 15. The modules are housed in a Tolex-wrapped cabinet that gives the synthesizer a classic, vintage appearance.
Dimensions and Power:
Dimensions: Approximately 22” (H) x 22” (W) x 11” (D), making it relatively compact for a modular system.
Weight: Around 35 lbs, emphasising its solid build and high-quality materials. Power Supply: Designed to operate on standard power outlets with an included power supply that ensures stable performance.
